Any type of natural roofing requires certain professional knowledge, skills and experience from specialists who are engaged in laying. It is not recommended to engage in it on their own, it is not recommended for non -professionals, since heat and comfort in the house depend on the correctness of the work performed, as well as the economical consumption of a sufficiently expensive roofing material.
Since ceramic tiles are most common from natural roofing materials, due to the optimal ratio of cost and qualitative characteristics, it is worth considering the installation of this particular type of roofing.
Laying natural tiles (any type of it) consists of a preparatory and main stage. Before starting work, it is necessary to make sure that the angle of inclination of the roof is in the range from ten to ninety degrees. The roofing of ceramic tiles is laid precisely with such a slope.
The rafter system is the basis for laying tiles. Since ceramics have great weight, the rafters should have strength and be reliably fitted. When selecting a rafter system, it is necessary to additionally take into account the weight of the waterproofing layer and the possible snow load inherent in the climate in which construction work is underway. Compared to the crate for metal tiles, the rafter system for ceramic tiles should be more powerful by 20%. This is achieved by a decrease in the size of the step between the rafters. In this case, it is necessary to use rafters with a thicker cross section.
Before proceeding with the main stage of work, you need to lay a waterproofing layer from a film or roofing material. This is done because ceramic tiles have low waterproofing qualities, which requires the use of additional materials. Moreover, with a relatively small angle of inclination of the roof slope – up to 20 degrees, you need to lay a double layer of waterproofing materials for greater efficiency. Roller modified materials are also well suited for roofs of this type.
Depending on the form of ceramic tiles, the stepal step can be different on the left and right fronts. Different types of ceramic tiles require different widths of steps, otherwise the laid roof can hold unreliable.
Direct laying of natural tiles involves the use of a large number of special mounts and additional elements. The main rule for the installation of ceramic tiles is the laying from the bottom up, as well as movement from left to right. Before starting work, equal stacks of individual elements are prepared, which are placed on all slopes. Thanks to this, a uniform load on the rafter system over the entire surface will be observed. The most critical rows of tiles under the cornice, on the lower edge and on the sides of the roof are attached with galvanized screws to the rafters.
