Any flooring is most severely subject to wear due to dynamic, abrasive loads, moisture and chemicals (when cleaning), etc. D. The most common type of defect in the plank floor can be called damage to its surface layer: abrasion of the coating (paint or varnish), the appearance of irregularities. Modern tools and materials can easily eliminate such damage and update the surface without unnecessary material and labor costs.
The technology for restoring the surface of the plank floor is largely similar to the processing of the parquet coating. To do this, you need to grind the surface, cleansing of dust and garbage, coating with any paintwork.
To remove the upper layer of the plank floor (old paint and thin layer of wood), you must use a grinding machine. In this case, it is recommended to process the surface in several stages with a gradual decrease in the granularity of the abrasive tape. To prevent damage to the edges, the machine should be moved along the boards. At the end of the grinding, the floor surface must be sprinkled. If the gaps between the boards are very contaminated, they should be cleared, for which you can use a screwdriver. After that, the floor is ready for staining.
To obtain a beautiful light shade with the preservation of the texture of the wood, it is recommended to treat with waterproof paint with further varnish coating. In this case, colorful compositions should be applied along the boards to prevent the appearance of influxes. Too thick layers of varnish should not be applied, as this can lead to wrinkles, heterogeneity of color and an increase in drying time. To obtain high -quality coating, it is enough to cover the floor with a varnish in two layers. At the same time, after the first layer dries, it should be slightly sanded, and then apply the second layer.
